I have a 00 x wtih the bumper opening. I just bought piaa 2100 x driving lights. I looked underneath and noticed two bolts thebumper is bolted on to. However, the metal reinforcement is bent towrads the nut, so it would make it very difficult to make a strong bracket support for those lights. I was hoping to place the lights in thebumper opening. If anyone has dont this, and has any input on how to make the brackets, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The bumper on the 99+ is basically just a plastic cover. When you remove the bumper from those 4 bolts you are talking about you will find there is a metal support that is inside the bumper. I haven't taken mine off in about a year and a half so I can't remember it exactly but I am confident that you could attach a bracket to that metal support.

i wish i could show you a pic of what it looks like, but i looked underneath, and using the two bolts that support the bumper is prob the way to go. however, the nut on the bolts are in deeper than the metal support of the bumper. making a flat bracket isnt possible, because id have to make the part that slides over teh bolt separately and weld it to the light bracket. its hard to explain. i wish there was someone on the board that already tried to install lights in the center bumper opening and made their own brackets, and what the easiest way was.

Yeah, Jefe and I mounted ours on top, I kind of copied him. But he has much better fabrication skills than I, so I ended up just mounting a bar on top of the bumper.

Cant you just drill a 1/4" hole into the top of the bumper openings? I understand that the hole would be on a slight angle but you can ream it so a 1/4" bolt will fit through to hold the PIAA light bracket & then mount the light to the bracket & tighten it all up.
