Hey everyone,
My 99 Sport started misfiring the other day and would blow smoke when cold. I did the tune up that I have been planning to do since I got it and it didn't help. I noticed a couple of the plugs were washed out and I had codes for bank 1 misfires with a bank one rich code. Pulled it apart and I have at least one injector so far that is stuck open.
Here is where the trouble come is. All the info I can find shows that the 4.0 ohv injectors for 99 only interchange with 99 and 00 ohv 4.0 and no local yards have anything for me. I glanced on Rockauto and they sell the same part number replacement for a 3.0 Vulcan taurus, I happen to have some of those injectors sitting around on the shelf, they don't work. The plug hits the body of the fuel rail and won't allow the connector to go on.
And new isn't an option here, due in part to cost but also because this thing has 216k miles on it. So, my main question here is: are there any other injectors from other Ford's that have a similar flow rate that can be swapped in without issue. I have a good 25 or so injectors around for a 2.5L duratec that are the same shape and size but different part number, I even have one set with only 50k on them. I'm not sure of the flow rate of these injectors or the ones that I just pulled for that matter. Or maybe someone on here has some injectors sitting around? At this point cleaning does not seem to be working either. I have cleaned and cleaned to just have it continue staying open all the time. I would like to replace all 6 with some lower mileage ones if I can.
