99 bumpers on a 98 model

Hi,

I have a 98 model Explorer with the chrome bumpers, and really like to colour coded look of the 99 model ( North Face Ltd Ed in UK ) Has anyone successfully fitted 99 bumpers on a 98 model ?

I have been told by Ford that there is no possible way they will fit, but I don't see what the big deal is, bodyshops do much more extreme makeovers that this... ?

It mounts the same.

You need the reinforcement and what not. The bumper cover will not fit by itself.

What, so it is possible and relatively straight forward ? What about the 99 spec rear bumper ? Will that also fit a 98, not too bothered about losing the tow bar

If you have the whole front bumper with reinforcement and all it will fit right on as far as ive been told by others. Not sure about the back bumper.

Well if you go ahead with this project let me know. As I have a 97, so if your not doing anything with the old 98 bumber I will be glad to give it a new home (on the front of my truck)

Wil let you know, is there any difference between a 97 and 98 spec bumper ? I've owned both and from what I remember correctly the only real difference is that 98's have square front fogs ?

Lets see how much the man from Ford quotes me for the new ones.....anyone care to hazard a guess ? Will find out tomorrow.
