ok I have a 99 explorer that I bought a couple weeks ago and since I have had it the chime will go off randomly when idling in park or while driving down the road regardless of speed. wear seatbelts so isnt the warning chime for that.. no dash lights come on when this is going on however when the key is in the run position and not started the airbag light does not come on with the rest of the indicator lights.. the chime will be is groups of 5 chimes.. then will stop for different lengths of time from 2 mins to 30 mins. that part is very random.. I did find out from the people I bought it from that they did have the battery replaced couple months ago and the chime issue has been pressent since the battery change. Would greatly appreciate any help with this cuz I cant afford what the shops want to just see what is causing the problem.

"No airbag light" is the reason for the chiming.

I have the same problem as well. The fuse for the light is fine, led light is not burned out and have not found a reason for the light to be off. Can't afford the dealer to "explore" the cause of the airbag light being off. Any thoughts on how to get it back on? I was told without the light on my airbags were disengaged and would not work in a wreck.

You have at least a bulb / connection problem. With your key turned to just on. All you dash lights should light... that's the check.... that's irregardless of the "state" of the equipment that it is "monitoring" / "indicating". This is a bulb check test only.... if it doesn't work, as I said you have a connection / bulb problem. A meter is your friend... "looking at electrical problems" ain't going to get cha much.

It was definitely a bulb connection problem. After a closer inspection of the board it was discovered that the LED bulb had broken it's solder and fallen off the board completely.
