99 Explorer limited 138k Drop the Pan or Flush?

I just bought this 99' explorer limited 4x4 from a guy who was going to Iraq.


I know nothing about the Maint history of the vehicle.
I just had the Oil changed and the fluids in the Gearboxes

I want to get the Tranny Serviced. (138k miles)

Should I have them Drop the Pan or just flush thru the dipstick tube? Both cost the same $90. Are there any benefits of doing one over the other or maybe some PITFALLS?

Drop the pan and change the filter while you're in there..after 138k miles who knows what kind of debris is built up in the trans that a flush could knock loose!

Yup, that's what I did and no problems so far.

After I get the filter done and I will know the recent maint history after this I should just do the flush every 25-30k?
