I just picked up a new Kenwood DNX-7180 and might need some help with the wiring.

First thing first, I connected all the obvious wires power, speaker wires ect.
I have a aftermarket amp in my truck and have a remote wire, and rca's. With this deck looks like the remote connects to the wire called P. CONT. I connected my amp remote wire to this wire.

I had my deck on for about 5 minutes with the truck running and the Head Unit turned off on me. I did not connect the parking brake wire yet(It got dark on me). When the deck lost power. I turned the truck off and my head lights and dash lights would not turn off on my truck, panicking I pulled the deck out really quick and my light's turned off when I started unplugging stuff. Not sure exactly what happened. I am not exactly a beginner installing stereo's, but this is my first navi unit I have installed. Was a pain in the ass modified fit, I had to cut my dash up a little bit with a drummel. FUN.

Can anyone think of what might of caused my deck to power off suddenly?

The harness I got with the kit there were two wires I did not need to use. I did not connect the Orange with Black stripe or the Amplifier ground.

Then on the stereo side, I didn't connect the Mute(brown wire), Light Blue/Yellow(steering remote control wire)I havn't got the steering wheel control unit yet, Blue(Antenna Control Wire)I do not have a power antenna.

I used the Blue/White(Power Control Wire) for my remote to the amp.

Could me not connecting the parking brake wire cause the outage? Nothing smoked, nothing sparked. Just the stereo powered off. If it was light enough I would of checked fuses and so forth. The fuse on the stereo is fine.
