I have a 99 Sable that has a new heater core, t-stat, and the a/c is freshly charged. It seems to blow the same temp out of all vents, whether it is set in defrost, dash vents, or floor vents. A/C or heat, and it does not matter what the temp dial is pointed too. I had to fix the blend door on my X a couple of years ago since it started making that infamous clunking that those in our rigs make. But there is no noise what so ever coming from the dash on my sable other that when you switch the vent setting or the fan speed dial, in which all fan speeds work from high to low and back. If this is it, how difficult is it to change and where would the best place to get one? I know my X was pretty simple and was around $75 or so, just trying to get a rough idea on wht kind of a job I am looking at! Thanks everyone!!

My friend had the same issue on his 2005 Taurus last week. The blend door actuator was the culprit. The front face panel requires a special removal tool which inserts into the four holes. The acutator has four screws holding it in place. Plug in the new actuator, set the control to A/C, then watch the actuator turn to that position. Install the new actuator, then test its operation before you reinstall the front face panel. It's a 20 minute job.

Yes I got it replaced and it was super simple compared to the one on my X! 20 minutes as you said and now it has hot and cold air! Took longer to get those parts than it did to fix! Thx for the info Brooklyn!!:salute:

I got both the radio removal tools and the blend door actuator from the local Napa Auto parts. $60 total for everything. Don't remember off the top of my head if it was Dorman #, or if it was a Napa part #, but it was all plug and play! Super easy!:burnout:
