Hey, guys.
My 99 is a 4.0L XLT with about 120,000 miles on it. A few months after I got it, and as the weather got colder, I noticed that it would take quite a while for the tranny to engage, regardless of if I was trying to move right after startup or let it get good and warmed up. Once I got it to shift a few times, it would run fine. I asked about this issue in the past, and someone had suggested maybe a lazy solenoid. Haven't replaced that yet.
Purpose of my post, though, is Tuesday morning as I was driving to work, the O/D flash started. Seemed to take forever to leave a stopsign, but once it got going, would drive fine again until I came to a dead stop. Tuesday night when I left work, the OD flash was gone. Yesterday, then the Check Engine light came on. Haven't had codes pulled yet, but I did have a problem with an O2 sensor, and hope that's it. Anyway the check engine light is no longer on now again.
My question is this: Do I go ahead and replace the solenoids, or, with the OD flash (even temporarily), should I be looking at a more extensive repair? I guess it's possible that that code I threw yesterday may have the answer, but wanted to get some perspective on the solenoids, too.
Any help is appreciated. I really like my X and want to keep it running. Now my EX, not so much.
