A/C compressor comes ON no matter what..

A/C compressor comes ON no matter what setting it's on.(except off of course.)

I'd like some suggestions for where to look for the possible culprits.

1. Possible bridge the fan blower fuse with the a/c compressor fuse?
2. Possibly jumpered the fan and compressor cables behind the HVAC control panel

The original owner "fixed" it that way because he thought that it should work that way. unfortuantely, the guy he hired to "fix" it. No longer lives in town.

Do you mean cycling? If on defrost, etc.- it will cycle and stuff...

IF your statement is "accurate" (A/C comes on in ALL switch positions), then it is likely a bad switch or wiring near its back. BUT recheck things and ensure that either VENT or FLOOR ONLY positions don't turn on your A/C.... cause IF that's what is ACTUALLY happening (those two don't but the rest do), then its normal.

It comes on at every position except off. Even A/C and MAX A/C, which of course it's supposed to.

The way I interpret it is that all positions are vent positions except those that say A/C.

Ok... let's back up. What kind of ac/heater controls are you talking about ... EATC (electronic) or manual? IF it is manual, there are pictures for "floor" (picture of arrow going down ), "vent" (picture of arrow going "up") and there are other pictures with "multiple things" (ie. two "blows", ie one down and one for up/defrost). Anyways, ANY position that has "two blow" thing causes air conditioning to run, that's how it works. Only "singular direction" position DO NOT operate the compressor. So again, IF ALL positions on your manual dial cause A/C to run, then you likely have a switch problem BUT if other "two blow" positions also cause your A/C run regardless of where the "A/C" printing is, then that is normal. Hope that's "clearer". And now hopefully we both come together on what you are observing.

Having said that, I see that you are in Mexico so perhaps you don't have the same position indicators as us northerly people....

"floor" refers to air flow coming out at the floor ducts while "vent" refers to air flow coming out at "face level"/front of the dash so if that's what you are saying, then no, most positions DO NOT include vent... most include "floor" at least in the great with north fords.
