Before I start, I live in Phoenix...
Two days ago, when I was leaving the parking lot at work, I turned on the A/C briefly to get some fresh cool air into the cab. When I did this, I heard the compressor wind up, sounded like a Turbocharger. It was loud enough that me and my friend (passenger seat), both looked at each other funny. I turned off the compressor quickly. Just as we were approaching the gate, my friend said, and I quote, "That's not good, let's hear it again..."
Nothing good ever started with those words...Anyway, he turned the compressor back on. Immediately there was a POP! And the engine stalled. I jumped out real quick, and pushed my baby out of the traffic that was behind me. I popped the hood, and already knew what had happened. My compressor had completely seized. :-( So, I disconnected the wire harness going to the compressor, turned off the compressor in the cab too. My truck started back up with no problem.

Now, the forecast for the next week predicts up to 105. It was 107 today. I want to be in a 75 degree paradise. I want to do this myself. Besides getting a new compressor, what other steps do I need to do to get my A/C back down to arctic.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

I also live in the Valley of the Sun, so I know what your going through. My a/c compressor seized last summer. I did not do it myself, and ended up paying $998.90. I can't remember exactly what all it was, but I know the condensor needed replacing, as well as the manifold line. Those a/c pumps are not cheap!

I had a new compressor that a shop put in in another vehicle of mine. It siezed up a week after it was installed. They had to replace the whole compressor luckily it was under warranty.
