Hey there - did you find any guides online for removing and replacing fans? I've been looking but no luck so far. If not, do you have any pointers on removal? For example, are there certain components I must remove first? My AC blows warm at idle and cool at speed. I'm guessing its a fan issue as the fans do not turn on at idle.Had my A/C fans quit again 2nd time. back in May of 13 the fans failed and I complained to FORD they were willing to pay 1/2 the bill 350.00 usd. Here its 3 years later and they quit again. Contacted my dealer and FORD with the information that the fans quit again. Dealer wanted me to bring the explorer in for diagnostic check, I told them it was the fans-- the A/C was not working right and the engine was making a strange sound. The dealer had the parts and I purchased them and started my own diagnostics.
Purchased the Fans on the 9/14/2016 and installed them on 9/15/2016 after i verified the installed fans were bad--
1. remove fan controller from new fan and replace with old fan controller-- fans did not run
2. slave in new fan and controller to make sure all is good -- turn explorer on and go to max A/C fans work!! turn off explorer and slave in old fan controller on new fans and start explorer go to max A/C fans work!! must be a bad fan motor on old fan unit.
3. remove and replace fan unit and connect to vehicle install all removed parts start explorer and go to MAX A/C -- FANS WORK!!! I saved myself about 500.00
4. from start to finish only took me about 1 hour total and I'm not a Ford certified Mechanic -- I was an Avionics Technician in the military for 28 years
All is good old fans Made in USA and Assembled in USA new fans the same
Thanks!
