Quick question folks. Does anyone make an A/C eliminator pulley for the 4.0? The air has never worked in my g/f's 91 and now the clutch has a bad metallic squeal. She can't afford to rebuild the entire system, so I'd just like to bypass the compressor for now. The only thing I have found is an A/C bypass pulley from LMC Truck (pn# 43-2321) but the people at LMC can't give me any information on the product. Surely someone makes an idler pulley that will bolt in place of the compressor. If anyone has any info on the LMC part or any other bypass setup, please let me know. Thanks.

just get a belt for an explorer without AC and pull out the compressor

You can run the belt for a none A/C motor and should be fine with leaving the a/c alone and not removing any thing.

I did this to my Nefs 94 XLT and he ran it like that for a few years. Right now it’s parked here waiting for me to do the heads but that belt is still good and shows no wear from it hitting or rubbing on the compressor at all. Every thing for his A/C is still hooked up by the way being nothing was removed and the only change was the belt. I carry the same belt with me just in case my compressor give up being it has 220,000 miles on it and is converted to R134 from R12 some years back.

So just change the belt and forget about that replacement pulley you do not need it.
