Hi all,
My 2000 Explorer has 15,000 on the clock, V8 and auto tranny. Whenever the A/C is on, and I give it some gas, the air stops coming out of the front panel vents, and starts going out the vents on the top of the dash(the defrost vents). It's aggravating on hot days. Anyone ever heard of this?? What shoudl I do?

Thanks,
Robert

yep, you got a loose vacuum connection. On mine there is a Vacuum 'ball' (about 5" dia). there will be 2 lines going into it. the top one control the vent 'actuators'. When mine fell out after changing plugs, no matter where you set the vents, it all blew out of defrost (must me the default). My guess is that this line is barely hanging on. if those lines are secure follow back to the firewall and under the console inside.

OH, on mine the vacuum ball is located just below the air intake (one w/filter in it) on the pass side. May be diff on your V8.

If your explorer is that new then it should still be under warrenty. Bring it back to ford and let them get aggrivated with the problem.
