I think my low pressure A/C line has a crack in it and leaked so the system doesn't work (amongst other things)

If it has leaked is a "recovery" of the R 134a necessary or do I just flush the system when I do the repair?

If there is a hole in the system and you no longer have any pressure then there is nothing to recover. Flush, evacuate and then fill the system. If its a slow leak (don't expect it with a cracked line) and you still have some pressure in the system then yes, you are supposed to recover what is left.

Any refrigerant in it at all?

Would there be any refrigerant left in the system at all? Could there be any amount sitting in the drier or other parts?

Thanks.

If the system is open then no.. there won't be any left as its under pressure in there. If you only had a slight leak you would/should recover what is left before you open the system to replace the bad part.
