A/C not cold...flush?

First off, this site is my new homepage. i've been lurking since i bought my X last week, soaking up all the info i can. keep up the good work. now my question: i have a 1997 EB w/ climate control. i turn on the A/C and set it as low as it goes (60) and i get slightly cool air, but definitely not cold air. a few days ago i got a gauge and put in some R134 until the gauge read that it was full, but the air is still the same temp. could it be that i just need a power flush? thanks ahead of time for any help.

flushing, in terms of AC, is not like flushing the transmission for example. A flush is only done to remove any remaining contaminants after a system failure and prior to finishing up the rebuild and recharging it. So, no, a flush is not a cure for whatever it that ails you. This is a case where knowing your high side operating pressure, low side operating pressure, vent temp and ambient temps would be a HUGE help. The "gauge" you got with your litle kit is all but worthless. Sorry.

OK. i have the tools to get the high/low side pressures, so i'll do that. when i wrote flush i meant like adding a cleaner chemical to remove any possible buildup and doing a pressure test.

Ok hook up your gauge set, and with the AC operating get the high and low side pressures... if the low side pressure fluctuates up and down with the system cycling on and off tell me how long the cycle is and the pressures (low in that case will be around 25 when it shuts off).. also the ambient (outside) temps and the vent temps. THEN we can get somewhere
