There are some metal tubes (with rubber crimped in) that attach via a metal manifold on the back of the compressor with a bolt. The lines run from the compressor to the condensor and from the compressor to the accumulator. The rubber parts on mine have begun to leak. Does anyone know the name of these lines?

I'm trying to search for them on ebay.

Yup, thats it!

From my research, the old hoses (non-barrier) will leak and break down from r134a. Is it cheaper to have new hoses crimped on by a reputable shop?

The stories of "non barrier" hoses have circled since the invention of 134A, and I have yet to see anything in writing, nor have I whitnessed anything to back up the statements. I have run 134A in my '92 since 1996 and except for the hole that is currently in the condensor I have had no problems at all.

I've heard the same stories you have, that the combination of 134a and the oil creates some type acid that turns the hoses into black goo on the inside. This goo supposedly mucks up the compressor.

I've been running 134a for two summers with no problems, other than the leaks I have in my hoses. Next summer I want to put in new 'barrier hoses', drain the condensor, new orifice tube, new accumulator, and new oil.
