I've reviewed the a/c postings, but haven't found anything like this:

1) fan speed the same whether on A/C or MAX A/C - shouldn't it be faster on MAX?

2) While on MAX a/c, my vent thermometer says the A/C air temp is 6 deg. celsius when the fan is on 3, but goes up to 15 deg. c. when the fan speed is 4 (much faster). Seems like the air temp on 4 should be lower.

Any and all answers/ideas appreciated.

Thanks.

Max setting changes the source of the air coming into the system. When on Max, it recirculates the cabin air. When not on Max, it pulls in air from outside and cools it. On Max fan speed stays the same, though it sounds louder since it is pulling in cabin air.

That's why, when the interior of the car is super heated after sitting in the sun with the windows up, it will actually cool faster if not set on Max since it's pulling in outside air that is usually much cooler than what's inside the vehicle.

You might be seeing higher temps on Max 4 because you're pulling in cabin air and trying to cool it instead of outside air. Maybe do the test after the cabin has reached a stable air temp, like after running on Max for 30 or so minutes.

Could be low on Freon also.
