So I bought my explorer used last April. A/C worked great all last summer. Go to use it this spring on a warmer day an it is not working properly. I get some cooling on the passenger side and the rear however drivers side just blows warm air. So did some research and replaces both the LH, RH and Air Intake blend door Actuators and it still the same. I bought some R-134a to recharge it and it doesn’t seem to want to take any. I have borrowed the full gauges yet to see what the low and the high pressure are yet partly because it doesn’t make sense why if have cooling on one side different from the other. Ran diagnostics test with Forscan. Very strange. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated Thanks

Sounds like it could be a blend door issue.
I don't have a link, but if you do a search for blend door, it might help.

I just replaced the LH(drivers side), RH(passager side) and Air intake blend doors actuators over the last 2 days with no change as I stated in my post. Are you recommending that that actual door might be damaged??

Sorry, I missed that part. Not enough coffee this morning. :)

I'm not sure what else to check. Did you confirm you replaced the right ones? I believe there are a few that do a variety of things. I know there's a diagram floating around on this site that shows the different locations.

Since the AC works on passenger and rear, seems like it's still related to the blend doors. Maybe there's a different one that can be replaced to fix it. :dunno:

The only Blend door I haven't replaced is the Defrost/Floor blend door actuator. That one you can see with a little disassembly of the instrument cluster and can see it actual operate and looks to be moving properly. However you comment causes me to do a little more searching and found this Left Hand (Drivers Side) Blend Door Replacement on another post about the LH Driver side blend door. I only pull the gear from the old one to move the door like a 1/4 turn to get it to align with the new blend door actuator. I wonder if i need to rotate it more to get the actual blend door aligned with the new actuator. According to the other post it took the guy a couple tries to get it to work. Guess I'll try this sometime this weekend. Thanks for causing me to research the Blend door issue again. Will let you know what I find out.

Update: Well that didn’t work. Messed around with it for an hour. The door only moves about a 1/4 turn from about 4 o’clock to 8 o’clock. Moved it manually with an older actuator gear that I took apart. Starting to wonder if it the defrost/floor blend door actuator. Could it be the driver side temp sensor?? Frustrating.
