94 Explorer Sport
I have a 94 Explorer Sport. My first question is, occasionally when I am driving slow and my windows are down I hear a clicking sound when I drive over speed bumps or other small bumps. Does this sound familiar to anyone. It doesn't really sound like metal on metal but more like plastic. Second, I was looking around for someone to install a lift on my Explorer and he said that the Explorers and Rangers can have problems with the frame and crossmember where you have to grind rivets out. Has anyone had their frame or engine crossmember crack where rivets were ground out and replaced with bolts? Thanks for any input.

The clicking noise you hear might be your RA bushings.

I ground my rivets out in prep for a lift coming most likely this fall and have had no problems yet. If your sport has the mono-leaf in the rear then you will have to change over to the 4 door leaf pack before lifting. Most people get them from a junk yard.

Radius Arm bushings are only 1 year old. Also, why would I have to change to a 4 door leaf?? Thanks for the response.

Oh...wait...Yeah, my leaves in the rear have 2 per spring I think.

Sounds like the RA bushings to me too. I was having that problem too.

Ok, I'll have to take a closer look at the RA bushings and see if there is something wrong.
