In deciding what aftermarket exhaust system I want for my 97, I can't stop thinking about the look of dual exhaust. I think we all realize that the 4.0lOHV do not make enough hp an back pressure to create an effective "true" dual exhaust. If this is the case, what are our options? Has anyone used a dual outlet muffler to create the look. If so, how does it perform, how does it sound, how much did you spend and what exactly did you do?

Thanks
Eric

Hey Eric,

I have a dual exhaust on my 97 Sport. I have a dual out muffler. It was custom made at Iggy's muffler in Chicago. It looks good, sounds good too. True dual exhaust would imply that from the exhaust manifold all the way to the tail pipe tips are two separate exhausts. Two cats, two mufflers etc. I spent about $300.

PERFECT, thats what I am looking for. Unfortunately I don't live in Chicago. What type of muffler did you use, and how does it sound inside your truck?

Eric

Iggy's is a shop that specializes in custom exhaust systems. Any quality muffler shop can do this for you. I have a Maxflow and like the sound. It's deep but not too loud. I leave the house at about 4:50 a.m. and don't want to tick off the neighbors.

Cameron,

What size pipes are coming out the muffler on your truck? I just called Midas and they do custom work. They menioned a Ravin muffler. I never heard of it, have you?

Eric

I have two 2.25-inch pipes terminating to two 3-inch chrome tips.

I never heard of Ravin!

I used a Flowmaster 70 series muffler because I (my wife) did'nt want it too loud. Am very happy with the sound.
She thinks it's a little loud. Muffler & heat shield $140. pipes & install $100. The first muffler shop said they could'nt do it. Showed the second shop a pix of T-Bones install and they said no problem.

i have a dynomax race-magnum muffler with all mandrel bent tubing, its not too loud(cant hear it at all while cruising in o/d) but gives it a nice throaty sound at lower speeds it cost me 200 bucks for everthing installed. remember its a v6, dont try and make it sound like somethin its not cause you prolly wont be able to(unless you actually get a v8 swapped in)

dual exhaust

What brand of mufflers did you have iggy's install?

Maxflow dual out.
