A Ford 6CD changer question

I just got a (2003 Model) Ford 6CD in dash changer that I have put into my 2000 Sport. My question is what does the "traffic" function do? It appears when the menu button is pressed. I already know about the "RDS" feature, just never heard of the "traffic" feature.

I believe it is supposed to alert you of traffic alerts being broadcasted on the radio. I have personally never seen it work yet in my 2002 Explorer but who knows, perhaps I'm wrong about the whole thing.

That is also what I tought it was (have not yet see it work too), something about traffic allerts. Maybe only certain areas have or use this feature. There are many radio stations in my area that do not broadcast the RDS signal either.

TRAFFIC is part of the RDS feature

The traffic warnings are part of the RDS feature set. Unfortunately, in the US market, the RDS feature has not proven nearly as useful as in foreign markets. Very few stations in the States broadcast legitimate RDS "traffic" flags.
