Depends on experience and tools. Chances are on a first gen the body mount bolts arent going to want to come out. The easy cure it to heat them up till they glow a nice cherry red. The draw back is you will probably melt most of the mount unless experienced with such an act. I would go ahead and nuy the new body mounts from james duff if you want to do this. there is going to be sme modification doing this. All a matter of tools and experience like I said. Usualy (not to be mean) If you have to ask its probably out of your league. Kinda like when someone asks the price of an E55
try searching there are literally 1000s of Body Lift threads on here but to answer ur question, im 16 and so is my friend, although we knew the basics of trucks, lifting,cars we knew nothing about the body lift with nothing but rachets we put on a 3 in BL on my 1st gen 4dr im pretty sure the 4 and 2dr are the same for body lifts not exactly sure tho, just follow directions and look up stuff u may run into.
I don't really want a suspension lift because they are more expensive to buy and raise the center of gravity too much. Even at stock height, trying to make a fast right is like trying to steer a barn around a sharp curve.
All you have to do to install a body lift is pop off the frame mount bolts, slide in the two inch spacers, and bolt every thing back down, right?
I know what you mean about steering a barn. But it really isnt going to matter that much if you raise the the center of gravity 2 inches, because you're going to be stiffening the suspension anyway, so the truck wont lean as much when you turn. I want to lift my explorer a bit just to reduce some body roll and make it a bit sturdier than stock. If you REALLY dont wanna do a suspension lift, then...ee swaybars?!?! i've heard really good things about those.
WHAT?!?! Few lifts will reduce body roll. And how are you replaceing a lift with a sway bar? I hope I am just reading your post wrong If your goal is less roll then go with big burly sway bars and polyurethane bushing all around.
