After chasing a grinding noise in my front end that I was pretty sure was the hubs for over a week I have finally found the problem. the outer U joint on the passenger half shaft was bad. it would lock solid every once in a while, not all the time. I didn't find any mention of it when searching for reasons for my problem and thought I would put it out as a point to check if anybody has gremlins in the front end.
