Hello:
Just looking for concurrance that this is the problem, which I believe is related to the automatic locing hubs. While driving in 2WD, a whirling noise occurrs under the front of the vehicle. This noise occurrs very intermitently. The last time it occurred, I stopped & backed up the vehicle & the noise went away. On one of the old explorer maintainece pages, some described the same problem, except they said they could make the noise quit by engaging 4WD. Ultimately, they said the problem was sloppy hub bearings, which they could service independently of the hubs. Reportedly the trade number for the bearings are NSK 6200Z, Timken 200S, or *** 6200.2zr.C3.
Do you guys agree with this scenerio? Are the above bearing #'s correct for a 94 EXP? Comments & suggestions, please.
Regards, FJK
