A test run at Reiter Pit 1-22-05

I'm liking the new springs idea. might help with my vibration

Skyjacker still makes that kit with the AAL, where did you see a complete spring pack?

Hmm. I just went and searched and found that I was mistaken. I was looking at 4" leafs. While I was at it I searched around a little and didn't find much in the way of a 2 " lifted replacement pack for the X. However there are several companies who could make them to your needs. And there is always Old Man Emu's $$$.

Mind you I have no clue how this might effect your towing ability so if you really want a new pack, it may be better to have it made to your specs.

Back to the AAL? That's a quick and easy :o

Hey albino, I spent some time searching around for leaf packs. Partly for selfish reasons, but also for your sake. I couldn't find a 2" kit that came with a new leaf pack.
I did find a 3" kit linked below, but you seemed to like the 2" number.
Last on the page http://www.rocktechoffroad.com/rc_ford.htm

I am interested in possibly swapping my packs for new to beat the driver side sag and get rid of those dang squeeky shackles that kill my departure angle.

Anyway here is a link to Carrier Springs. They have whatever you desire :D

Get lift?

Since this has turned into a "Get Albino Lifted" thread, how about this;

James Duff stage 1 - 2.5" kit toss the shackles and get Carrier Springs Services; 2"lift spring pack or 3" lift spring pack.

This would make alignment easier and maybe my current camber adjusters would work since the JD kit has drop brackets, right?

Would this give me better flex than just coil springs alone and the new leaf pack will keep the 'pavement queen' ride quality for the rear instead of the stiffy AAL or squeeky shackles??? (I don't like the look of shackles hanging)

Now to hide the cost from my wife  (there goes my fly fishing float trips for the whole year :( )

:D I'll leave the answers to those questions to JR as he has first hand experience with the JD 2.5" kit.

I wouldn't mind picking up a set of those spring packs as well, but later, too many projects first.

When are we going to put that lift on? And who is buying the beer? :D

How soon are you thinking you may be wanting to lift your rig? I am shopping for some rear leafs right now and I will probably be ordering some within a week I have been looking at some toyota leaf springs.
If you buy new leafs try to get some 3"+ size because you know they are going to settle down.
I also have a JD stage1 2.5" lift kit except for the front springs and rear add-a-leaf, you can tell it has been used but it still works goods
With the JD kit you will also probably not need to get new camber bushings, The first time I lifted my X I did not even have to have it aligned

I could be persuaded to act fairly soon (weeks not months).

If the price on the JD web site is still accurate $450 and the leaf pack price for the 3" is $315, I could start buying pieces now.

Would I also need to get longer brake lines?

Anything else?

Your stock brakes lines should be fine.
I ran stock brakes with ~4" of lift and extended radius arms

quick update on myself, my X is running as good as new but...
a buddy and myself bought a 1975 dodge 100 for $50......runs, needs some trans fluid, some brake shoes, a rear axle bearing....but is other wise in perfect 4x4 condition.....we have since routed the exhaust through the bed and created two smoke stacks......this will be our short lived extreme 4x4 beater truck.....i will let you all know when we plan on taking it out and killing a $50 beater 4x4......should be fun to see how long it lasts....the last one wouldn't die, an $84 1994 montero sport that we lincoln logged front and rear....we had to purposely drive it off a cliff to kill it eventually....cost too much with the trafic violations to drive on the steet.
