I am attempting VB rebuild thanks to all your great threads. Plenty of pictures and info. This is a previously rebuilt tranny. I have put lots of miles on it myself. It came with a rebuilt when I bought it. I have only pulled the VB out and removed the separator plate. My question, concern, is that there was no sprin in the low reverse servo. Second there is no little filter in the separator plate by the converter clutch solenoid. I can clearly see them in the threads and also in the ATSG book that I have. I did read in one of the threads the all A4LD trans may not have that little filter. No spring in the low reverse would not seem to be right. Any thoughts? Sure is Hot. Wish I had an a/c garage like I read about in another post. Best wishes to all. USA is the GREATEST.. :us::salute::us::salute:

There should be a spring in there. You could add that sock style TCC filter. Check the under side of the case for the other spring which acts as a filter for the TCC solenoid. These parts were not added to the older models but should be included in your 93.

Aerostar VB rebuild

Thanks for checking up on me BrooklynBay. I knew I could count on you. My story on the VB is; I have it apart. Everything is labeled. I put all the different parts in pill bottles. PB BLASTER worked great. Have a list of the parts and gaskets I need to buy but have not ordered yet. I did buy a trans from a 94 3,0 Aerostar. Mine is a 93 3.0. Trans was supposed to be good. I am definatly going the VB rebuild route first. Interested to see if I can do it and if it will solve my problem. Easier than trans replace with a trans that might not be any good either.
Once again thanks for the followup. This site and people like you, and a lot of the rest, have really helped me remember that there are truly "good" people out there. Thanks. I will post any progress on my project for the help for someone else. Best wishes. USA is the GREATEST:us::salute::us:

Can you change the 0-ring seals on a 1995 aerostar AWD 3-4 overdrive in the van or will it mess up and half to talk the trans. out thank you

Or sorry BrooklynBay I was talking about the o/d (3-4) sevro o-rings on my 1995 aerostar AWD I checked and was told in earyer post this could be the problem so it's next on the list checked alot of stuff it is hooking up on coverter so was told either sevro o-ring broken band or overhall thank you

then can I change the whole sevro pull it out put in new one or do you half to take the trans out to replace that sevro?

what problems would I face could a part fall into the oil pan when the sevro shaft comes out or is it a simple pull out work the new one back in I know nothing is that simple I'm going monday to get the ex. bolts out and new ones put in so I can talk the y-pipe down there really rusted so I thought i'd have in done

Don't loosen the adjusting studs. Keep the vehicle level, and try to keep vibration down to a minimum. This should prevent any problems with the apply struts falling out. Adjust the bands when the job is finished.
