I printed out the entire rebuild diary I found on here to replace my output shaft. Everything working out good. BUT....the um drive after you install the center support.....OD????...but whatever the last band you would install on the installation the pin that hold the little A clip in, is there a hole in the center support that it slide into?? Or does it just kind of rest on the center support? The way the picture looked after you install the center support with the big snap ring, in the picture the gap in the snap ring was located twards the bolt that goes through the VB so it doesnt look like there would be a slot in the center support, sorry if this doesnt make sense but just double checking
---
by the way, after everything is put back together is there any way to kind of check to make sure its all situated, but turing the torque convertor or something like that, just to make sure it works
---
thanks again everyone, even if i have to tear it back down a little still saves me about a grand that would go to the tranny shop

Actually there is not any way to put that pin in wrong as I recall. If it is the pump wont fit. If you have gauged everything.... you should be ok. (I have to admit I needed to go back and look at pics, as I don't have one apart at the moment. I am sure you are ok.

I find with most transmissions, if you have any one piece not stacked properly, you will not be able to get it all back together without having to force something. In MOST CASES, if you can spin the input shaft after reassembly, you SHOULD be okay. We somewhat touched on the benefits of air plate testing on another thread, but I'm not going there right now.

I air check every cluch pack and band servo without test plate. Look at the hole in case on a4ld i belive the is 2 near center support and two near frt pump and servos on side of trans. I use air gun with a 1/8 tubing coming out about 5 inches use about 30 pnds of air and listen for each clutch pac to make a poping noise.

trouble with the A4LD input shaft is that it is so small and what sticks out is so short... (DON'T GO THERE!!!) so try turning the output shaft.... THAT you should be able to do.

air checking is always a smart thing to do....during a rebuild, or even with a test plate if you have access to one.

Did you reseal whole trans.
