I did my research in the archives (thanks opera house! ) made a shopping list ordered the parts from bulkparts.com. I have dropped the trans pan pulled the low-rev servo. I cannot find what I would call a double lip seal in the parts kit. I can only find a black rubber O-ring that looks like a cross section of a VEE pulley. Another way of describing it would be to say it looks like a very small VEE belt could ride in the channel that is cut into the outside diameter of this O-ring. I guess this could be considered a dbl lip with one lip going each direction. I was expecting both lips to be pointed the same direction to effect a better seal.

Have I got the correct dbl lip seal or do I have an "ooops" ?

Depends whose lips you are used to. If you got the Cleveland kit, they should have been packaged seperately in a bag (one smaller O ring and the larger double lip). It is sort of a grab bag, there are square seals that have a center directional cut for clutches. I thought it was more like two O rings together that got melted on the bottom. That sounds like the one.

I went ahead and used the o-ring that I described and it appears to have helped.
I'll keep my fingers crossed and the tools handy. I now have about 75 psi at the 1/8 pipe plug port on the L.H. side of the case when in Park. In reverse it reads about 115 psi.

Maybe we should look into a group purchase of this seal and install it as preventative maintenance ?
