A4LD Output Shaft

Doing a little mudding and got stuck, but when she grabbed, BOOM, broke the output shaft in 2, ordered a new output shaft through ford only 38 bucks, suprisingly. But heres the question, i was looking through the rebuild diary and i know deep in my heart you probably have to tear the tranny all the way down to put the little shaft in, but I was hoping someone was out there that could tell me that wasnt completely true. I can dream though!

To the best of my knowledge, the output shaft is the very last thing that comes out of that transmission during disassembly...

Eneurb is right. a full and complete, absolutely complete, case tear down. In it that far? Rebuild it at the same time.
