Thanks to you guys' information-sharing, I succeeded in getting my A4LD ('93 V6 140,000mi) to respond better to the shifter in cold weather. I did the servo O-ring-to-D-ring replacement and have changed the fluid and filter twice.
However, this week it's been exceptionally cold in Dallas (below 25F at night), and that first shift into D (after backing out of the driveway) has gone very sluggishly -- D takes a good 10 seconds to engage.
Is there anything else I can try to get this resolved? It's definitely better than it was, but not quite there.
