Anybody know if an automatic from a 93 Explorer will work in a 93 Aerostar? Both are 2wd. Also the Explorer might be 4.0. I don't know yet. I can't seem to find out if the Explorer to Aerostar swap is ok. :us::salute::us: USA is the GREATEST

4.0 to 3.0

The 4.0 won't fit a 3.0? Both are a4ld? Different bellhousing bolt patterns? Thanks BrooklynBay for your help. :us::salute::us: USA is the GREATEST

Now I have located a4ld from 86 Ranger 2.3 engine. Will it fit my 93 Aerostar 3.0? As you can tell I'm trying not to do a rebuild on my trans if possible. Might be foolin my self. My van already got 230.000 miles on it. Hate to put a grand in a trans if I can help it. Thanks to all at this site I have learned a lot. No free lunch. USA is the GREATEST:us::salute::us:

I think I located an answer that I already received from BrooklynBay. He told me 88-94 had the dual solenoids and will fit. Also told me best bet would be stay with trans from 3.0. USA is the GREATEST :us::salute::us:

The bolt pattern of the 3.0L bell housing is different. You could swap the bell housing, torque converter, and the valve body, but it's best to get something as close as possible instead of taking another transmission apart.
