When i accelerate hard i can feel the truck slip and jerk throug all of the gears, the engine is not missing because i can hear it slightly rev through the gears as it is slipping. Even when i am in overdrive I starts to slip and jerk when i approach a hill and give it a little gas to go up it. I thought overdrive on a4ld was a lock up??? If i accelerate slowly then it will not slip through the gears and it feels normal. I think that the torque converter has finally taken a dump on me. Anyone else have any opinions!! thanks!!!

tranny has 160K on it and has ran great till now

Also check your driveshaft u-joints and slip yokes...
pray that it's that, and not the transmission.

Believe me i wish it was that, but I know all of that stuff is good. I'm thinking this is going to cost a lot of money!!! argggg:rolleyes:

I forgot to add the transmission does not slip while it is shifting but when its actually in a gear is when it jerks and slips.

Sounds more like an ignition problem

Acceleration and going up hills requires a lot more plug voltage. Any problem with the ignition system will show up then. I've experienced the same thing several times.

Nothing wrong with ignition that i can tell. I have pulled the plugs off the coil pack and the spark jumps a good 3 to 4" so there is plenty of spark there. Im not sure how else to test anything else on ignition

Check the insulators on the plugs

Firing a plug under high compression takes a lot of voltage. It would much rather jump an inch at atmosphere than that .050 gap. I have found several times plugs that have carbon tracing, looks like little cracks, under the boot on the insulator of the spark plug. As the dielectric grease dries out, this is an easy path for the spark to take. If you find this condition you need to replace the wires.

hmmm i will have to check that out tonight, that would be great if thats all it was!! quick and simple
