Hello everyone, I am new here. Been lurking for about a week here and it looks like the place to be for Ranger and Explorer transmission tech. Glad I stumbled upon this site!!
I have a 1990 Ranger 4x4 with a 4.0L and A4LD with no forward or reverse. I plan on taking it apart and rebuilding it. I see that I need a tool for aligning the pump but looking on the internet I am kind of confused on which alignment tool to get. On the Transmission Parts USA site they show three tools. I am thinking I need the tool #1 for 1990 and up but is there a tool that I can get somewhere that will work for all A4LD pump alignments regardless of year? I am working on a 1990 Ranger now but I also have a 1984 Ranger too that might need a rebuild in the future and it would be nice to buy just one tool for both. Also what about tool #3. It doesn't list a year and shows large metal ring that I have no clue on what its for. It also looks like it could be a little on the cheap side.
