Welcome! It could very alot. What are looking to upgrade to? Deck and door speakers, amp, subs?

i wanna update everything the system in my car is wack. it gets all ****ty when the volume gets even close 2 being high. so i pretty much wanna replace my speakers, head unit, put in an amp and 1 or 2 subs. so basically every thing related to playing music will be replaced... hopefully

Well I am not real up to date on good products or prices so heres what i have. Hope this helps.
Alpine 7893 head unit = $350
Rockford fosgate 2ch. amp = $250
2 pioneer 6x8 door speakers = 100 pr.
2 bostin acoustic door speakers = I forget lol probably about same price as the pioners.
2 12" rockford audiophile subs = about $300 a pair (long time ago) should be able to get something decent for about same price.

There are some real good audio guys here that will help you out on up to date products and prices,This is just what I have and spent.

wiring $50
build your own box... $40
and if you gotta get it installed.... that is something you should talk to BBQ_HotDogs about... he has an interesting story

My system:
4 four way pioneer 6x8 door speakers - $220
JVC headunit - $250
Visonik v700hc 650w RMS - about $600 on sale
1 10" audiobahn sub - about $200
total - about $1270, but ofcourse I didn't pay this much, I got it all for about $550

This setup is nothing compared to some folks on this forum.

Oh yea, another $100 for wiring and a box (I built mine, saved money).

i have roughly 10,000 invested and 400 plus (and counting) hours

it's scary to think what we sink into our cars...

thats only what i've sunk into audio and into my current install at that...

i dont' have a clue where i get the money i spend some, i always feel broke, but i end up with so much stuff.

Man expo I feel sorry for you :)

what kinda **** would you suggest i put into my truck considering i'm hoping on not pay a whole lot because i'm only a teenager and dont got that kinda money. so i'm lookin for good quality at a low price. if you have any suggestions on what brands of equipment i should use please tell me

I also have roughly 10K invested in equipment alone. As far as hiring out for the install, your guess will be better than mine. I just don't have good luck at that end of it, but it was estimated around 3K for a custom install.

pioneer deh-7500mp $325
2x infinity kappa 572.5cf's $200
amp kit $50
fosgate punch 851s $300
2x infinity kappa perfect 12.1D's $300
custom box $60 in materials

to about $1230, plus the recent custom glassed tv in dash, modulator, power inverter for the xbox and stuff is around $580, yikes

All depends what you want man. SPL bass or just a good bump. Multimedia? so much you just have to sit down think what you want than let us know. DO IT YOURSELF cause in order to have a kick ass system at a low cost you have to do your own labor. This way the money you save on labor you can get some nicer equipment. I've lost track of how much I've spent on my system it just seems it never ends. You will always need something else :) Trust me man I am 19 and have done everything since I got my first X at 17. Just use this forum and others to gain knowledge and suck it up and tear the X apart. :smoke:

all depends what your looking for, my setup is sony 6" in doors, stock rears, sony tweets in the top of the a pillar, kenwood excelon deck, fosgate 1000.1 amp with 2 kicker solobaric s12l7 subs. if your looking for bass do yourself a favor, make sure what ever deck you get has sub volume. another thing on subs is how much space your willing to use, my entire rear is used (top of the back seat and down) i made the box 3 1/2 cubes on one side with a 1/3 cube port and the other 3 1/4 with a 1/4 cube port. right now im am at 154 db but powered right could be hella louder, these subs are 750 watts eack and running the 1000.1 is actually underpowering. as for the other speakers, a good pair of highs and mids will be fine, if you run a sub or two there really is no need for replacing the rears, the bass from the subs drowns them out and the quality sound from your fronts mixed with the stock rears sound impressive. as for cost, the subs arent really that expensive anymore, about 600 a pair if you bid low on ebay, not sure on the sony speakers as i tore them out of a car as they were parking it in a locar junkyard(i paid 40 cause im a good customer there :)) the deck was a bit over 600, the amp i think is down to 4 or 500 on ebay, less than half of what i paid. also, if you want to run your own component amp in an explorer you need to run all wiring, i had done so but tore it back out because it sounded just like the factory amp. if you have any questions or need to know how to figure the volume of box you need for subs feel free to let me know.

alright i was in the same situation and kinda still am. i have a 92 and just started revamping my system. im 19 so money is also short but... First speaker wise... i would either look into pioneer 3 ways 6x8s, look them up on crutchfield, on ebay you can get them for like 30 shipped per pair. of course there are also better models for more money like kappa 525cfs but they are about 70-80 per pair on ebay. HU wise, id say take a look online and even go to best buy to try out a couple. youll see all sorts of different features. Sub wise is also very negotiable. Do you want SQ(sound quality) or SPL (loudness) or a combo of both. Amp i would say comes once you know the subs you want, oh also you should figure out how much space you want to give up for the subs. ok im done. ha
