- 2002 Ford Explorer XLS
Hey all, new members, been browsing for a while, lots of great info, but I think I have kind of a combined issue, not sure, looking for thoughts...
I have a 2002 Ford Explorer XLS with 222k miles, runs great, just has some little annoyances I'm working on, I bought it a couple months ago, so not sure on how long some of these issues have been around, just know they are!
ABS light on constant, best I can tell it isn't working (don't care, I HATE abs) however I think it may be related to a problem I WANT to fix, and that's the 4wd...
4wd high (ONLY) blinks 10 times... Won't go into 4wd at all... Now, I have heard people say this could be the CM, etc... I've also had people say it can be related to ABS issues...
my diag picked up 1165 and 1175, I realized I have only one sensor on the rear diff, so more than likely that's the abs issue...
Question...
Is it possible that the abs sensor on the rear diff can cause the 4wd to not work AT ALL... I understand it could cause issues with the 4wd auto, as the vehicle doesn't understand when to kick in, but if I manually try to put in 4wd high, it WILL not go...
Personally I would think that the sensor wouldn't stop from going into 4wd high as the ME (well the switch) is telling it to lock the front hubs, not the sensor, but stranger things have happened...
I'm trying to avoid the 4x4cm if I can as it is expensive, but MUCH easier to get to than that damn abs sensor, lol...
Anyway, enough of my rambling, any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all!
