The ABS light has turned on. The manual says the ABS diagnostic is beyond the scope of home mechanic. The engine and brakes seems working normally. Any hint or advice will be very welcome.Thank you.Anthony.

Two things you should have before working on any "warning light" are a good scanner that will read the codes for the computer you are trying to fix and a factory shop manual.

If you have that then it's not beyond the scope of a home mechanic. By finding what fault code your ABS system has you can pinpoint what the problem is.

Auto zone can scan the codes for free I think. Sometimes it's something that maybe should be taken in, but other times it's just a sensor or soemthing easy like that.

Good luck

I'm not sure if this holds true for all makes but I know from my Chev Blazer, only the dealer could read the ABS codes, I'm almost positive autozone couldn't. I know my $150 scanner couldn't either.

It's possible :) I really dont' give a crap about my abs so I'd just pull the bulb. I didn't think there would be a problem.,..but then again i've been wrong before, lord knows i'll be wrong again. Now that 00xls said that, i would still call ahead though and ask...

Good luck either way
