Jumped in the explorer and the ABS light was on. Backed out of the parking spot and all of the sudden the brakes grabbed and then released after about half a wheel revolution. Stuck it in drive and drove forward back in the space and it started the grinding again. I'm not sure what it could be but before I have it towed to shop I'd like to get some ideas.

thanks

My first two guesses would be the ABS sensor went bad or the wheel hub/bearing.

Right on the money! Thanks Adam!! Went out bought two wheel hub assembly's and changed both fronts. Took it for a test drive and no ABS light or brake grinding. Should have know, the wife has been hearing noise coming from the wheels. Thought it was a bad set of tires.

Happy to help! I had something similar happen a couple years ago.
