Just joined the forums and just bought my '95 Explorer XLT.
I have a ABS problem. When coming to a complete stop, the ABS "kicks in" almost making a sound and vibrations in the brake peddle. Also the check engine light was on. I replaced the rear sensor and cleaned the front two. Didn't work. So I removed fuse #14. and no more problems, now the ABS light and the check engine light are on. Although the initial problem is gone, I would like to fix problem, put the fuse back in and say goodbye to the lights on the dash.

Thanks,
Tony

bump please
really need to solve this

Welcome to this forum! Usually cleaning the front sensors solves this problem. Your front sensors might be bad. Check the connection on the wiring harness of those sensors. Brake dust could get into it.

If you have a cel or an abs light or both go have the codes pulled. That really helps narrow down where the problems are.

:( i got the codes pulled. they tried the OCBII or whatever the new gen reader is called first. and that didnt work. so i got the 1st gen reader done under the hood and it came out 327- ERG valve. but that has nothing to do with ABS. haha. none of the local car stores have a ABS reader, hopefully I can take it to a local shop that has one.

On a side note -- how do I get the ERG valve out? I found it and tugged on it everywhich way after unscrewing it..any tips?

- I tried to clean the front sensors, never thought of the wiring harness though, will have to check that out, thankyou.

Do you have a 4.0 or 5.0?
