ac and cruise weirdness , vacuum related??

my ac sometime will stop blowing thru the dash vents and come out the defroster vents and the a while later come back to the dash,still blows cold either way, seems to happen if I get on the throttle, also sometimes the cruise will just drop out and then come back. Could all this be vacuum related?

Yes, it sounds like it's a vacuum leak. The hard plastic vacuum tubing usually cracks near the end where it goes into a rubber boot on the servo pistons.

where are they located? does the 4wd also use vacuum servos?

They are inside of the dashboard. On some vehicles such as my vans, they are both under the hood, and inside of the dashboard. Look at the vacuum diagram sticker for more information.
