I bought an '97 xlt and I want to know where to recharge the ac gas and what kind it needs? It's been a while since I did mechanical work in a car (fiero '86 :thumbdwn:) but I want to start again w/ my new truck.
Thanks!!!!

Welcome to this forum! You connect the manifold gauge set to the accumulator, and evacuate the lines with a suction pump to prevent air from going into the system. You use R134A. Sometimes it's necessary to use a jumper wire across the connection for the low pressure cutoff cycling switch to refill the system.

Sounds like me when I bought mine! So far my truck has turned me into a mechanic, painter, body tech, pretty much everything. And I haven't even done anything too serious!

Good luck, welcome to the forum!

welcome aboard

The high pressure fitting is over by the battery and the low pressure fitting is on the accumulator on the passenger side.

If you aren't using gauges to charge it up with then just use the low pressure fitting on the accumulator.

Thanks a lot!!!

Thanks to all of you for your welcome posts and the answers to my questions;), I'm gonna work in this issue this weekend, wish me good luck!!!
