Just bought my first Explorer ('01 4x4) and this is my first post, even though I have browsing the forum quite a bit.
I just started using the AC and while the AC is running there is a frequent noticeable clicking sound. I suppose this is from the compressor turning on and off. I also notice a slight loss of power when this happens.
The click is loud enough to make me wonder if something could be wrong. After all, I wouldn't expect this from a fairly new vehicle.

It's normal. The click can be very noticable. If it is doing it rapidly (2-3 seconds), that is an indication that your freon pressure is low.

Welcome to the site!

Mine has always done that, I think it is a ford thing. If it is really bad get the a/c recharged and make sure they give it a shot of oil in the compressor.
