Hi all, I was wondering if it's normal to have the AC always engaging/disengaging all the time.

whenever I'm sitting at a light or just idling, I can feel/hear a "click" then about 30 secs later another click and the engine RPM's go up by about 100 RPM's.

I understand the drop in engine RPM's, as the pump is adding a load to the engine, but should it be always running? I've only ever used it a couple of time to test it. (I've had the Ex since mid Feb of this year)

I would think that it would engage if you are using the system, or is this quite normal. (none of my old cars ever had AC)

Thanks:)

On my 98 it does the same thing and it is supposed to. The air con works all the time depending on the vent setting. On mine it works at face/feet and screen/feet and screen only but not at feet only or off. The fan is permanently on too except at off on the vent switch. As designed the handbook says this is to help de-humidify the air.

Compressor will run in all HVAC settings EXCEPT "off", "panel" and ('99+ models) "floor" as long as the temp is above ~ 50 degrees (can't remember the exact termp, sorry).

OK, thanks guys. I was just making sure this is normal.

:D

it is

also a factory default because the oil in the ac pump must be circulated to ensure that it stays lubricated so when it is needed it will perform without flaw.

just one more tip from the tip guy

The compressor will run in alot of HVAC settings so that it will wear out sooner than later ;)

well

fact or tip i would say that all tips have to do with a fact that i or someone has tried it and know it works so they are in fact the same that is why i call them a a tip but even facts can be proved wrong and so can i .

my tips are from my results of tring them your results might differ thats why i call them tips dont want to be called a lier or i that i dont know what i am talking about stating that it is a fact leaves me wide open for being called wrong.
