OK.. have been reading the manual for my 98 Limited... lots to know.. but concerning the AC.. two thngs seem almost obsurd..so obsurd, it could only be in an American vehicle.. maybe I'm not reading this correctly...or using the AC incorrectly. Any epiphanies welcome..

1. If I want the AC to put out nothing but COOL air...the ONLY way I see to do this is to have the AC set to max..and then vary the temp with the fan... on ANY other setting, like when I set the temp to 68 degrees and take the AC OFF Max,,,.. the cool air will come on until it reaches (I guess 68 degrees) and then rather than cut off when it reaches the desired temp.. the freakin HEAT comes on until the temp rises enough for the COOL air to kick back in.. it's either COOL air or HOT air coming through the vents... alternating. and the LAST thing I want is the heat blasting me when it's hot outside... Somebody please tell me this is not right... please...

2. on NO setting can you aim cold air at your feet.. NONE, Zip, nada... only heat...Somebody please tell me this is not right... please...

Some enlightenment for a newbie, please... and please talk to me like I'm a chimp so I understand.. I won't be offended..

I believe # 1 is correct. Instead of using an automatic variable fan speed to maintain temp, Ford varies the airflow thru the heater to regulate the temp I belive.

#2 - you can blow cold air on you feet using the Floor/Defrost (mix) setting. The compressor runs and will blow A/C air on your feet.
