Just an interesting observation I had yesterday. It was 100 here so of course the AC was on. I needed to pull out into heavy traffic so I punched it, which I rarely do, after I got up to speed I noticed warm air coming out of the vents for about 20 seconds. I then tried going to full throttle again to see if there was the same end result and there was. I guess Ford has the vehicle programmed to shut the AC compressor off under heavy acceleration. Curious as to why they would do that, the V8 has enough power to run the AC and accelerate at the same time.

FWIW, my '97 Sable does that, too.

most cars in recent history that i have driven do this to allow full power and temporary disengagment of the A/C compressor.

Under WOT the AC shuts down in most vehicles. Also, your charge may be low. If it gets a low pressure signal, it will shut off. Some times there may be enough to get it going, but every so often the pressure switch is tripped and will shut of the air. good luck
