MY AC quit working the other day on my '94 XLT, so I checked the fuses. Sure enough, the AC switch fuse under the dash had blown. I put in a new one, turned on the AC and it blew instantly. My brother suggested disconnecting the "low pressure" switch as a test. I did and tried turned on the AC to see if the fuse would blow again. It didn't. Is there a short somewhere? If so, how do I tell where it is? Or, is it something else all together?

Problem solved....I think. It was the AC relay. I switched it out with another and AC worked with no fuse blowout.

I had the same problem but my interior lights and turn signals didn't work too. Took it to Ford to figure it out and got a $500 bill. Thank god for the warranty

A/C fuse blowing

I had a similar problem. There was a short across the line to the compressor clutch solenoid. Buried in the wiring harness was a doide that had shorted out. I replaced the diode with a bigger one and that fixed the problem.
