Anybody currently running one of these in their 4.0? How are they for performance? I hear they have longer spark duration and higher voltage so I'm just wondering if they help any for efficieny or smoother ride, thanks

Most people on here stick with Motorcraft but i'm interested in how the aftermarket stuff performs as well.

i have an accel coil on my 96 ohv didnt feel a difference or smoother ride it actually feels the same as the oem coil pack i even have with accel plugs and wires

i have it also and really didnt feel any difference but thats because i got a bad plug wire.i gap my plug out to .60 i believe it ran fine beside the wire that was sparking of the block witch wasn't happening before the coil so that leads me to believe more power was going through it and caused me to be able to see the arc. i ordered the magnecore wires also and they will be here monday, but for the price and name of both its well worth it to me,here some cheapest link for them

I think im gunna give them a shot as well.

the best thing ive done for throttle response is jlsparky7 throttle mod if you havent done it or see it do it!!!!

Chimptoast is a *******! Grrr sorry but yeah, I ordered this last week with credit card and he e-mails me back saying he only accepts paypal and money orders. Now I'm waiting for an e-mail back from the ebay staff to make sure I didn't just blow 90 bucks into thin air. lol

wow sorry to hear that i always use paypal its free and a little safer.i got mine really quick and its brand new.good luck man:thumbsup:

v6 did you get my link on the other tread about the v8?

I think to get more out of the coils you need to gap your plugs wider.

I just installed the Accel Horizontal terminal Coil in my 4.0L SOHC yesterday. I noticed a smoother idle, but didn't feel any difference in power. I don't know if it affected my fuel mileage in anyway, but I will find out as I'm driving 2,400Km for a move in a couple of weeks. I also change my fuel filter at the same time, so the results may be due to the fuel filter. Right now I'm waiting on my plug wires from Taylor (found out one of my wires is being worn down), so hopefully it would be a good combo.

Never liked Accel products. Every time I used one of their items it went south on me in about a month or so. I currently have the Screamin Demon coil pack wired to a set of Ford Racing spark plug wires, Bosch +4 SPs gaped at .060. This was a great set-up for me... no problems since I put it in five years ago.

i actually ordered this from summit a few months ago for 70$ and they sent me the verticle for the sohc (wouldnt start lol) i sent it back at their expense and got the correct one did not notice a difference in power; however i experienced faster starts and a smoother ride. no noticable change in mpg.
