Ok, started working on a 2" bodylift and new body mounts, problem... how the heck do the stock bodymounts come apart? I am total lost (and feel quite stupid at the moment)

Note, I did get the bolts out of the stock mounts, what I cant figure out is how to get the stock rubber off the top and bottom of the frame mounts :frustrate

i just had the same problem this weekend. What you need to so is get a long wrench or go to the gym for a few months and just keep going at it. it seemed like after a while they just came out. Took me about 2 or 3 hrs to figure out how the get them out and then do it
I did get a big pair of water pipe plyers to hold the rubber on the bottom but That wasnt to much help b/c you really need to grab the metal under the rubber.

Yours probably have metal sleeves in them. There's one in the top rubber, and one in the bottom rubber, and one fits inside the other. They could be corroded together or 'mushroomed' a little. I had to use a long punch and an 8 lb sledge, and even then it was no picnic.

Ok, so them things are really 2 peice, I just might go ahead and cut the old rubber out so I can attack them better EDIT: Cutting rubber off was a good idea... if it was possible :frustrate
I wonder if ford sells just the metal bushing that go in the bodymounts, then I'll just sawzall them off

thats a pic of the *insert 5mins of cussing* thing I cut the front one in half with a portable bandsaw, but that wont work on the rest, well, back to hammering away at it

:frustrate :banghead: :frustrate :banghead: :frustrate :banghead:

well, damn thing has me stumped, tryed a steel rod and a sledge, didnt move at all, think the rubber sucked up the blows, these have me very stumped, looks like a call to ford parts department in the morning
if anyone has any ideas let me know

Ford sells just the sleeves, but charges ALOT for them. I wanted to cut mine, too, but changed my mind when I saw the cost.
Another tip I remembered is I soaked the thing in Liquid Wrench, and cut off the top rubber piece so it wouldn't absorb the blows. Good luck. :)

Well, with alittle muscle, a really really big pipe wrench and a 2 foot peice of pipe I got the body mounts off the right side of the truck, they were very very rusted, and I managed to kill one of them in the process, so looks like I'll be finding out how much they cost from Ford
