Just completed installing my Procomps.

I have a few questions though. What are the torque specs for the center pin, u-bolts and shackles? Also do the shackles normally swing all the way back?

I torqued my center bolt to 70 ft-lb, the u-bolts to 40, and the shackles I cranked down with my IR 1/2" impact.

Thanks :)

Kilroy, what add-a-leaf did you get? The shackles should be close to vertical. Although, under a load the shackles will swing back if that's what you are asking.

As for torque, I just tightened mine down real good. All those suspension nuts are lock nuts and won't back off. I tightened my spring bolt until all the leafs touched.

Here's a pick of mine.

BTW, I will have a pic of the shackles soon if you are interested.

Heres some torque numbers from a couple of sources

95 and up U bolt nut- 65-87 ft/lb

shackle to spring nut, and shackle to bracket - 74-115ft/lb

spring to front bracket - 50-68ft/lbs

Above from Haynes,

From my Rancho add a leaf installation instructions, Spring center bolt 20 ft/lbs

Procomp from Macromotive.com

There weren't any torque specs for the center bolts, so I went by specs I had for an Isuzu P'up. They look just like yours.

I was always told to tighten suspension parts to specs after putting weight on them. Thats why I was asking about the shackles. As they were when the spring was removed, they were pointing to the rear. I will eventually replace them with longer ones.

Now on to tires. What is the next size up from stock?

I have 31's and they fit nicely. You could goto 32's, but depending on the tread width you might need to trim some.

How important is it to make sure everything it torqued to spec? Im installing a double AAL next week and all i thought i had to do was make sure my warrior shackles were tighted to 35 ft-lb.

Well its your suspension system, over torquing can lead to breakage, and under torquing can lead to problems with shifting u-bolts etc. - which leads to breakage.

The u-bolts should be retorqued after about 100 miles or so.

Safety should be foremost when doing any suspension work.

Good Luck

sk1er17, What is this i keep hearing about a double AAL? Do you mean Installing 2 sets, and where are you geting them from?

Brad,
A double AAL is NOT two leaves stacked. you cant do that. Pro-comp makes a kit that contains two AAL's for each side. I just got the kit a week ago and they're really heavy duty. I expect to get no less than 2.5" with these, deffinetally worth the money for the lift.

They're part #13135

Me and alec discussed these leaves pretty thouroughly in this thread: Dead Link Removed

Hope this helps. Im planning on installing them within a week. ill post pics

Does anyone know of a installation write-up for the AAL? THe only part I'm unsure of is the leaf order (I have a short procomp aal) I think it goes second from the bottom? Also, since I'm putting shackles on at the same time, I only need to disconnect one end of the leaf spring to put the aal in, right? If there are already instructions on this somewhere, it would be great if someone would link to them.

Thanks sk1er17,
very helpful I'll check them out and I can't wait to see your Pic's,I'm guessing they will fit an 99 X?
Thanks again for your reply!!
