My apologies for so many posts recently...I just got my Explorer and have a lot of questions about it!

I called my Ford dealer and asked them if I had the wiring necessary to support an overhead console or if I'd have to add it all myself and they told me that "it might". They also didn't know if the mounting holes would be there.

Will my Ex be able to support this? 2000 Sport model.

Thanks

Masospaghetti,

No, you don't have all of the wiring there for your overhead console. You will have to run wires down to under the dashboard to hook everything in. While you are at it, and it isn't much harder to install because you are already in the same area, you may as well install the automatic dimming rearview mirror that comes with the autolamp function.

You will have to install the mounting bracket for the overhead console as well. This does not come with it, but it screws right into the structure of the roof of the truck.

Have a search on the site for autolamps and overhead console. You will find an excellent thread on it from when I installed my first one.

I've got a gray overhead console that holds the garage door opener, if you want it. It also has the wiring harness and mounting bracket. I also have the overhead console for the ex with a sunroof. I bought them on ebay but never installed them. Let me know if you'd like any or all of these parts.
