Has anyone tried to add volume control to their steering wheel? I've been thinking of upgrading the HU (CD/Tape unit in my '02 XLT) and at the same time, add volume control on the wheel. I haven't decided between aftermarket deck (and control), or picking up a Ford changer on eBay, and was hoping someone had tried to do this.

I think some aftermarket HUs have remote controls that mount on the steering wheel. I know the top end Clarions do anyways.

Even the low-end Aiwa MP3 player I put in my Wife's Sable has a steering wheel mounted volume control. The remote works well enough, but the rubber band mounting method loosens up after a while which causes the remote to slide when a button is pressed.

I also think most pioneer's work with a remote that straps to the wheel. I think its 29.99 off of the sites and like 20 off e-bay.

Yup, my Aiwa came with a wheel mounted remote. I never mounted it though was it was a bit cheezy and I can easily reach the HU, so there's no convenience gained.

At this point (unless it's just not possible), I'm kinda looking for that built-in look (on the dash and the wheel). Anyone know which Ford HUs have wheel volume control? I've looked at the Ford parts pages, but haven't been able to find the vol control piece. I'm wondering if I would have to get a steering wheel from an LTD or EB edition?
